A Breeder's Story - Phil

Phil began his journey into the fascinating world of cannabis at just 15 years old. His passion for the brown gold of the Arabians was ignited early on. He was particularly drawn to the exotic varieties that crumbled through his resin-covered teenage fingers. Whether it was red Lebanese, black Afghan, Pakistani, or Moroccan hashish, they all captured his mind and then his heart with intoxicating speed.

In the 1980s, however, high-quality weed was still a relatively hidden secret in Europe. Hashish only found its way into European pipe bowls via the murky smuggling routes. Thus, quality often had to give way to availability – simply too often for Phil. He had already tasted the sweet nectar of the Berbers. With each new lump of resin in his hand, the desire grew within him to finally take matters into his own hands.

From the peaks of the Middle East to the deepest tropical jungles

Driven by an insatiable thirst for discovery, seeking ever better and more potent strains, Phil decided to travel the world, searching even the most hidden corners and remote spots for the best genetics Mother Earth had to offer. At the tender age of 19, Phil hatched a bold plan: He would travel to India and Nepal to seek out the finest hash and the finest weed. But this short trip would only be the beginning of a lifelong journey. From the peaks of the Middle East to the deepest tropical jungles, Phil collected the best seeds and secretly brought them back to Europe, his stomach aching and his hands sweating as he made his way through customs – all for the sake of one harmless little plant.

Don't panic, it's organic!

His travels continued to take him all over the globe. Soon, in addition to collecting seeds, he found like-minded people all over the world who shared his passion and introduced Phil to varieties that still enjoy iconic status today.

An unforgettable companion on his journey was Ras Truth. Everyone affectionately called him Mandelbrot, though. They worked together in Northern California, where one day, shortly before his death, Mandelbrot bequeathed him his life's work: the most exotic types of diesel and fuel, all in perfect perfection. Even Phil had never seen—or rather, smelled—anything like it before! His thirst for adventure left him no choice, and so he had to carry this treasure, his friend's legacy, all over the world.

His years in the shadow of the law are far behind him. But the allure of anonymity in the shadows has never completely left him. He still prefers to operate in the shadows rather than wallow in the spotlight.

Today, Phil oversees one of the most impressive collections of global cannabis genetics. Together with a group of visionaries, he creates countless revolutionary strains. The first stable feminized seeds, the first true autoflowering hybrids, and many of the legendary strains that are now world-renowned all originate from his pen. His breeding is the result of a tireless quest for perfection and a deep passion for the greenest of all grasses.
